Las Colorados- The Pink Lagoon

Visiting Las Coloradas to see the pink lagoon has been on my bucket list since I first saw photos on Instagram.

The lakes are pink due to red-colored algae, brine shrimp & plankton that live in the very salty waters. Flamingos are pink because they eat the pink creatures.

Since we are only 3 hours away we just had to check it out and I am so glad we did. It was truly breath taking.

We took a tour with Mariachi Travel. Which included a 3-hour bus ride to Rio Lagartos then a boat tour to the Pink Lagoon. On the boat ride we saw the wildlife and got uncomfortably close to a crocodile.

Then we did a mud scrub with white Mayan mud. Our skin felt amazing afterwards.

Then we climbed over and there it was, the pink lake. My first thought was, "Momma, I made it!"

It was beautiful, and there were even flamingos.

I thought the lake would be a little pinker then the tour guide told us we would go to the other side which was the bright pink I saw in the photos.

It was truly breathtaking. I was so happy that I was able to experience this in person.

Check out the video to see more of the experience.
